Northern Computers + Communications is a dedicated, local company with fully qualified IT professionals.  We are seeking a motivated and qualifying individual for a Computer and Network Technician Internship at our Terrace Bay Location.
Job Description:
The Computer and Network Technician Intern will assist in the maintenance, installation, and support of IT systems and network infrastructure within the organization. Working under the supervision of senior technical staff, the intern will gain hands-on experience with hardware setup, troubleshooting, system configuration, and network optimization.
This position will provide valuable exposure to real-world IT operations and project-based learning, including the migration of business internet services from Xplornet to Starlink.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with the installation, configuration, and testing of network hardware and software.
• Support the migration of systems including device setup, connectivity testing, and documentation of the new environment.
• Help maintain firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
• Perform troubleshooting on computers, peripherals, and network-related issues.
• Assist with system updates, backups, and hardware inventory management
• Maintain accurate technical documentation of network configurations and system changes.
• Support end-users with basic IT requests and escalate issues as needed.
• Follow proper safety procedures and organizational IT policies at all times.
INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Successful candidates must:
• Be unemployed or underemployed youth (persons aged 30 and under);
• Have graduated within the last three years with a degree, diploma, or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution;
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada;
• Have not previously participated in a youth internship with FedNor's Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) or in any other federal or provincial internship program with pay for a period of six months or more;
• Not be related to the directors, officers, or managers of Northern Computers + Communications
• Work on project-based activities listed under Canada's Economic Strategy Tables (Advanced Manufacturing, Agri-Food, Clean Technologies, Digital Industries, Health/Bio Sciences, Resources of the Future, and Tourism)
• Must reside in Northern Ontario or be willing to move to the region for the period of the internship

SALARY:
$18.00/hr. This full-time position is partially funded by FedNor's Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI).
